Apparatus and method for measuring the surface area of a surface (1) using a measurement of the capacitance of an electric circuit through which an alternating current flows and comprising a portion of the rough surface (1) surrounded by a sealing gasket (5), an electrode (6) and some electrolyte filling a cavity which is defined by a sucker (2) and which contains the electrode (6).
