<p>PURPOSE:To provide the melting method of steel material having excellent machinability, which can stably secure long service life of a tool not achieved even by the steel material having excellent machinability represented by ordinary wire rod for manufacturing steel wool. CONSTITUTION:At the time of melting the steel material having excellent machinability represented by the wire rod for steel wool having molten steel composition of 0.05-0.20wt.% C, <0.20% Si, 0.5-1.5% Mn, <0.12% P, <0.15% S, <0.0030% Ca by means of a converter-continuous-casting process, inclusion composition in a cast billet and the wire rod, is adjusted so as to become within the range I shown in ternary system of MnO+CaO, SiO2 and Al2O3 surrounded with (a), (b), (c), (d), (e), (f) in the figure.</p> |
