PURPOSE:To improve inserting and pulling out workability by suppressing the increase of inserting and pulling out force owing to multipolarization of a connector for a flat cable. CONSTITUTION:In connector for a flat cable composed of a plug connector 1, wherein a plurality of rows of plug contacts 2a to compose one end of plug terminals 2 are installed like a matrix, and a jack connector 15, wherein jack contacts 17a to be connected with the plug contacts 2a are located at one end of a jack terminal 17 and installed at the positions corresponding to respective plug contacts 2a, the jack connector 15 is composed of a plurality of the same sub-jack connectors 16 which are able to be inserted into and pulled out of independently each row of the plug contacts 2a installed in a plurality of rows like a matrix and have neighboring mutually combining means 18d, 19b.
