A vehicle-mounted handling apparatus or lifting board for lowering or lifting a load in order to unload or load the latter, comprises: hinged means (11) for rotatably mounting a first frame (10) onto the vehicle, said frame being movable between a raised position and a lowered position in which it extends at least partially to the exterior of the vehicle; coupling means (16) for mounting on the first frame a second frame (17) movable between positions close to and spaced apart from the latter, the second frame being equipped with a platform (28) for receiving the load; and driving means (21) linking at least the second frame and a driving element mounted on the vehicule for displacing, when the first frame is in the above-mentioned lowered position, the second frame between an elevated position and a lowered position corresponding to the above-mentioned close and spaced apart positions, and rotating the first frame between the above-mentioned raised and lowered positions while maintaining the second frame in its position close to the first frame.
