Electrically driven security bolt for vehicle door - receives code to drive bolt into door recess from door pillar mounting

The security bolt (4) is mounted inside the door pillar (2) and is driven into a security mounting (10) inside the door. The whole bolt mechanism is enclosed by the closed door, with no outside components which could be forced. A coded security drive opens and closes the bolt. The bolt action can be linked to the intruder alarm. The actual drive for the bolt can be solenoid, mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic. The remote control is infrared, ultrasonic or high frequency. A spring loaded ratchet holds the bolt in either position providing a secure operation. The whole system can be fitted during vehicle assembly. ADVANTAGE - Improved security, separate from conventional door locks.
