A so-called Fast Line System features a bright red pulsating light installed at the top of a signal post, above an easily visible switch linked by buried cable to a display and control unit which operates signals over a variable length of road approaching the site of an accident. Within seconds 50 km/h. speed limit and 'No Overtaking' signals can be activated and emergency services alerted. ADVANTAGE - Reaction to danger is quickened with alarm stations at 50 m. intervals giving warning over 1 km. of approach, or more where curves or structures reduce visibility.
