<p>Disclosed is a method of sealing a human nail (32) by applying a sealing material such as carnauba wax to the top of the nail using an applicator (10) having a surface (30) to which the sealing material adheres. The sealing material is released by rubbing the surface against the top of the nail to coat it with a thin layer of sealing material. The applicator includes an elongated base (12) having an integral handle (14) and is made by conventional molding techniques of a polymeric material such as polystyrene. A sheet (20) made of a foam backing (22) and polymeric film (24) is adhered to an underside surface (18) of the elongated base using a low tack adhesive which allows the sheet to be easily replaced by a replacement sheet (20a) as required. The sealing material is disposed within shallow grooves or cavities (34) in the exposed surface (30) of the applicator.</p> |
