Above an opening in a vehicle roof is a panel (5) which can be moved into an open position for ventilation, including a position in which its leading edge is in line with the leading edge of the opening and its rear edge lifted. The panel can be slid rearwards and tilted for a limited distance, and a sealing frame (14) positioned correspondingly. In the first tilt position, aircan enter at sides and through the rear gap, while in the rear tilt and lift position the rear and sides are blocked by the frame parts. The frame is U-shaped and is assisted by guide rails.
