Anhydrous and water-in-oil antiperspirant formulations are disclosed comprising effective suspending amounts of a compound of the formula: <CHEM> wherein R1 and R2 are independently selected from the group consisting essentially of H or C1 - C40 linear or branched, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkylene, alkaryl, aryl or R3-O-R4 groups, with R3 and R4 being independently selected from the group consisting essentially of C1 - C22 linear or branched, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkylene, alkaryl and aryl groups; y is an integer of a value satisfying the valency of M; and M is a cation, preferably selected from the groups comprising H<+>, Na<+>, K<+>, Ba<+><+>, Ca<+><+>, Mg<+><+>, Al<+><+><+>, Ti<+><+><+>, Zn<+><+>, NH4<+>, R5R6R7N<+>H wherein R5, R6 and R7 are the same or different and are selected from the groups comprised of H, C1 - C20 linear or branched, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, alkylene, aryl straight or branched chain alkyl or alkylene C1 - C40 groups or R8-O-R9 groups with R8 and R9 being independently selected from the groups comprised of C1 - C22 linear or branched, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkylene, alkaryl and aryl groups, and mixtures thereof. Methods are also disclosed for preparing anhydrous and water-in-oil antiperspirant formulations. |
