The aim of the invention is to make it possible to manufacture, by a simple process which involves minimum expense, a highly effective free-flowing, phospate-free foam-inhibitor preparation which can withstand being mixed with the usual powder-form components of washing or cleaning agents without the granular structure being destroyed and without producing dust, and will nevertheless dissolve rapidly, without leaving any residue, under the conditions of use. This is achieved by carrying out a granulation process in a granulator-mixer, 80-200 parts by weight of a carrier-salt mixture, containing alkali-metal sulphate and alkali-metal carbonate, being mixed intensively with up to 8 parts by weight of a cellulose ether mixture. Up to 16 parts by weight of water are added, followed by 5-30 parts by weight of a liquid organopolysiloxane, granulation being continued until completion of the process.
