In the mfr., the yarn is washed and partially orientated, being drawn from a series of spinnerets in an assembly of 4 to 200 ktex and wound without tension, washed in hot water of 100 to 150 deg.C at 30 to 500 m/min., being drawn 1.05 to 2.5, then the temp. is brought down to less than 80 deg.C, pref. less than 60 deg.C, dried to 70% fibre wt., and laid in storage cans as POY. An assembly of yarn is drawn at a lower speed with hot water of 70 to 100 deg.C or satd. steam of 100 to 130 deg.C and 10 to 120 m/min. drawn to a deg. of 1.05 to 7.7, followed by prepn. such as drying, crimping, setting, cutting and packing as an end prod., according to requirements as staple or filament. ADVANTAGE - The process reduces material loss, and gives high quality yarn economically. There is no deleterious emission in storage. Has low water content.
