Attachment of piston to brake block support plate - uses adhesive which retains its elasticity at 400 deg. C to avoid failure when disc brake is hot

The disc brake has a brake block (2) which is mounted on the support plate (3). The support plate has a circular recess formed in the face opposite to the brake block. This recess receives the end of the brake acctuating piston (9). The dia. of the recess is slightly larger than the dia. of the end region of the piston so that there is a radial gap (10) between the wall of the recess and the surface of the piston. This radial gap is filled with adhesive which bonds the piston (6) to the support plate (3). The adhesive is of the type which retains its elasticity at temp. as high as 400 deg C. USE/ADVANTAGE - Attachment of brake piston to the brake block support plate on a disc brake by a heat resistant adhesive.
