摘要 A core (12) is inserted into a mould, thereby forming a moulding cavity with the inner surfaces of the mould. A material composed of inorganic particles precoated and/or blended with a hardening binder is then introduced into the cavity so formed. Upon hardening of the material, a layer (8) of said material is formed on the outer surface of the core (12). The latter (12) is then extracted from the mould and inserted into the metallurgical vessel (1). A powdered product that is capable of being sintered or lightly compacted, and is resistant to the temperature prevailing during decantation of the liquid metal, is introduced into the cavity (17) formed between the outer surface of said layer (8) and the inner surfaces (4, 5, 6) of the vessel (1). Finally, the core (12) is extracted from the vessel (1) leaving said layer (8) in place. For use, especially for dry application on the inner surfaces of a metallurgical vessel a protective coating comprising at least two layers without immobilizing said vessel for an undue length of time.
