Treatment of fatigue syndrome with cholinesterase inhibitor.

The use of a pharmaceutically acceptable cholinesterase inhibitor or a prodrug therefor for the treatment of fatigue syndromes, including Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Post-infectious Fatigue Syndromes, fatigue syndromes associated with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection or with preeclampsia. The acetyl cholinesterase is preferably one that acts substantially selectively at nicotinic receptor sites, and which has selectivity for acetyl cholinesterase opposed to butyryl cholinesterase, e.g. galanthamine or a galanthamine derivative.
