Class 126 A grill is hingedly supported on the back plate of an electric cooker so that it is foldable towards the back plate when not in use. As shown, the grill 3, counterbalanced by weights 6, is pivoted to the back plate 2 at 4 and raised by means of a handle 8 to its operative position in which it is supported by a pair of links 9 10 at each side. The back plate 2 is recessed to receive the grill. The heating current is controlled by a switch 17 and an additional switch 18 is automatically opened when the grill is lowered. Tension springs may replace the weights 6 and in an alternative embodiment (not shown) the grill may be hinged at its lower end to fall forward into operative position, in Which case the pairs of links 9, 10 are replaced by a single central strut.
