PURPOSE:To eliminate the bundling irregularities of sheets during stapling process by reducing the movement amount or a tray to zero or minimizing the amount when a sheet distribution device is employed. CONSTITUTION:The subject sheet distribution device consists of a sheet bundle feed mechanism 39 which holds them end of a sheet bundle on a specified tray 4 installed in such a manner that it moves vertically in one piece with a stapler 28 and transports the sheet bundle to a position where it can be stapled, and a reference member 26 which arranges a bundle of sheets in contact with the ends of the bundles deposited on the trays 4.
