摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To identify particles generated in large quantities quickly and accurately by irradiating particles of various plastics with a short wavelength light pulse and determining a characteristic value from the intensity of emitted light according to an algorithm. CONSTITUTION: Particles 2 of various plastics having different composition are captured when they intercept a laser light emitted from an He/Ne laser 7 and guided through a lens 3 and a mirror 6 to a photocell 4. A trigger signal being generated at the capture is converted through an electronic detector 8 into an electric signal and used for actuating a ultraviolet pulse from a flash lamp 9. UV-rays filtered through a filter 10 is focused onto the surface of the particle 2 through an irradiation optical system 11. Intensity of a light emitted from the particle 2 is detected by means of a detector 14 through a spectrometer 13. A computer 15 determines a characteristic value from a signal detected by the detector 14 according to an algorithm and compares the characteristic value with a limit reference value to generate a discrimination control signal.</p>
