Title: RAISABLE WHEEL SUPPORT FOR TRAILER Inventor: Edwin Voege A device is provided for mounting a wheel adjacent the tongue of a trailer toward the end of the tongue distal the primary support wheels. The device has a bracket for attachment to the trailer and a wheel support arm. The wheel support arm has a hub support at one end on which a wheel hub can be rotationally mounted. The wheel support arm is pivotally attached to the bracket away from the hub support so as to be rotatable relative to the bracket about a first pivot axis. A rotator acts between the wheel support arm and the bracket to cause the arm to rotate relative to the bracket between a supporting position and a towing position. The rotator can be a threaded shaft acting in conjunction with a thread follower. The rotator can also be an expansive strut having a first member threadedly received toward one end within a generally tubular second member. The bracket may be provided with a stiffening brace which bears against the wheel support arm in the supporting position to resist pivotal movement of the wheel support arm relative to the bracket about an axis perpendicular to the first pivot axis. |
