PURPOSE:To increase the unrepeated sendable distance of light soliton pulses, to increase the installation intervals of optical amplifiers and optical repeaters, to enable multi-repeating optical soliton transmission at a high information transmission speed, and to economically perform a long-distance, super high- speed, and large-capacity optical communication. CONSTITUTION:When an optical fiber 2 has light loss as to the optical soliton transmitting means which uses the light soliton generated in a wavelength range of the negative group speed dispersion of the optical fiber, the frequency modulation of the light soliton pulses due to the light loss is compensated by using an optical dispersion compensator 3 for group speed dispersion having the opposite sign from the optical fiber 2. Further, the light soliton pulses may be amplified by an optical amplifiers after the frequency modulation is compensated by the optical dispersion compensator, and an optical repeater provided with an optical dispersion compensating means for group speed dispersion having the opposite sign from the optical fiber and an optical amplifying means may be used by >=1 stage. |
