The invention concerns a suspension system which tensions itself between two surfaces and is intended for free suspension and easy displacement of various fixtures and equipment (such as lamps) in a room. The suspension system has been made up from one or more separate flexible but elastically resilient materials, such as composite plastic tubes or profiles, the desired elements being secured in these. The end sections of the profiles are pressed, using the natural resilience of the press bar, against at least two surfaces at a suitable angle to each other, in which the construction tensioned in an arc and then released is held at the desired position in the room. By supporting the tensioned bar by means of crossed bars connecting them to added parts provided with suspension parts, a versatile suspension system is obtained. The system is also used on flat surfaces without opposing surfaces being needed, in which case connecting or weight elements of, for example soap-stone, can be used. In which case one end of the bar is secured in an end element and bent in another corresponding piece. The advantages of the suspension system are in construction of renewable, time-limited lighting and suspension units in rooms where it is not permissible to secure objects with screws or the like in inner walls, for example in art galleries, theatres and exhibition rooms where hanging constructions must be lightweight and unobtrusive. It is also possible to hang objects high up from ground level, in accordance with work safety procedures, by first placing the upper end of the bar and then bending the lower end in its place. <IMAGE>
