<p>PURPOSE:To make active sludge competent for original water with a high load in a short time, by accelerating the habituation of active sludge from the addition of seed sludge to the regular operation of a rotary apparatus for continuous biological oxidation including an aeration tank and a rotary filter material for catalytic oxidation fixed in the tank. CONSTITUTION:The characteristic features of the method for habitation of active sludge of this invention are: in the initial stage, seed sludge and original water with a low load are added in an aeration tank 1 keeping a contact filter medium 2 without rotation to habituate the sludge; in the second stage, the original water with load as high as that of the original water in a regular operation keeping the contact filter medium without rotation to habituate the sludge; in the third stage, the original water with a high load is added in the tank and the contact filter medium is rotated to habituate the sludge. In the final stage, accordingly, the habituation of the sludge is conducted in the same conditions as in the regular operation, and the treatment performance is confirmed before the regular operation being started.</p> |
