PURPOSE:To provide an automatic focusing device where stability is improved and whose responsiveness is satisfactory by providing a means which especially detects movement information on a subject in the automatic focusing device of a picture input system such as a video camera. CONSTITUTION:A movement detection means 10 converts a signal inputted from a camera process circuit 4 into movement information such as blurring and the disturbance of the subject. A lens control part 6 judges the situation of the subject with contrast information on the subject in a focus detection means 5, and automatic focusing is carried out by a stepping motor 8.
