PURPOSE:To enable high-temperature dyeing of a polyester or a polyester- containing textile material excellent in reproducibility on the alkaline side by using a specific monoazo dye. CONSTITUTION:A monoazo dye expressed by the formula [X<-1> is H, Cl, Br, nitro or 1-4C alkylsulfonyl; X<2> is H, Cl or Br; X<3> is H, Cl, Br, nitro or 1-4C alkylsulfonyl; X<4> is H, Cl or Br; Y<1> is H or methyl; Y<2> is H; Y<3> is H; Y<4> is H, 1-4C alkyl or 1-4C alkoxy: R is H or 1-6C alkyl which can be substituted with allyl or 1-4C alkoxy; Y<1> and Y<2>, together with benzene ring to which they are bound, are capable of forming naphthyl group instead of a case that Y<1> means H or methyl and Y<2> means Hand Y<2> and Y<3> together are capable of forming direct bond instead of a case that Y<2> and Y<3> respectively mean H] is used to dye polyester fiber at pH8-11 with excellent reproducibility without causing decomposition of the dye.
