PURPOSE: To improve performance of an internal reformer, by giving a hollow interior to the reformer/dividing means of a bundle of fuel cells and by forming supply channels comprizing tubular or solid partition walls in the interior. CONSTITUTION: When a tube 66 is used, reformable fuel mixture flows from an inlet port 64 to a top part 70, gets out of the tube, changes its flow in the opposite direction, and flows downward along a reformer/dividing means. If a single partition wall 68 is used, the fuel mixture flows from the inlet port 64 to a top part 71 in a channel formed by the partition wall and a wall of the dividing means, changes there its flow in the opposite direction, and flows in another channel. Catalyst substance for reforming is disposed as a coating on a side wall 72 or its internal one, or as a filling between the tube 66 and the wall of the dividing means or in a supply side 76 or a return side 78, and reforms the fuel mixture. Reformed fuel 80 makes contact with fuel cells 40 via a distribution plenum 82 and a port 84. |
