Continuous treatment process using a fluid in a magnetically stabilised granular bed. It includes the following stages: (a) continuous circulation of the fluid in the bed (90), (b) drawing off a controlled quantity of particles which have taken part in the treatment, with the aid of a tube (210a) immersed down to a determined depth in the bed, and using a speed amplification phenomenon, and (c) introducing fresh particles into the bed at a flow rate close to the withdrawal flow rate. The invention also relates to a plant using the process. Application especially to the filtration of a fluid laden with microparticles, the purification of a contaminated fluid, the chemical treatment of the bed particles with a reactant present in the fluid or consisting of the fluid, and catalysis of a reaction in the fluid by the bed. <IMAGE>
