Device for a typical clarinet making it possible to obtain, optionally, the coupling of the opening/closure of the C hole with the rings of the right hand. This device consists essentially of an articulated lever having the special feature of being able to be placed on two positions - 1 - and - 0 -. Several embodiments may give the same result, yet the principle is identical. The pad covering the C hole is permanently subjected to the force of a spring which tends to cause it to open, but this pad cannot open because the key - 6' - bears on the latter with a constant pressure due to a spring with a power much greater than the preceding one. The hole can thus be opened only when pressure is applied to the key - 6 -. However, if the lever is placed in the position - 1 -, the rings will entrain the latter, and, consequently, when they are lowered, the lever will bear on the pad and will prevent it opening, despite pressure being applied to the key - 6 -. Nevertheless, by maintaining pressure on the key - 6 -, the pad will open simultaneously with the opening of the rings. In the position - 0 -, the pad will be released, and it will open as soon as the key - 6 - is actuated.
