PURPOSE:To reduce the dimension of a three-axis type automatic transmission and improve versatility. CONSTITUTION:The fifth frictional engagement element C5 is installed on the second shaft CS at the center, and the first and second frictional engagement elements C1 and C2 and the third and fourth frictional engagement elements C3 and C4 are installed on the first and third shafts arranged on both the sides of the second shaft CS. When one between the first and third shafts MS and SS is used as input shaft, the second shaft CS operates as output shaft, while if one between the first and third shafts MS and SS is used as output shaft, the second shaft CS operates as input shaft. Since the first and second frictional engagement elements C1 and C2 and the third and fourth frictional engagement elements C3 and C4 are arranged in symmetrical form on both the sides of the second shaft CS, the dead space can be reduced, and a transmission case can be made small-sized. Further, since the position relation between the input shaft and output shaft can be changed, versatility can be improved. |
