摘要 PURPOSE: To monitor the quantity of toner (DMA) fixed onto a photoconductor accurately by detecting the DMA developed in a test area by arranging an infrared densitometer closely to the surface of a belt. CONSTITUTION: Parallel light 96 illuminating a sample is, before detected by a photodetector 99 dispersed into refracted light 98 reflected from a basic material or a photoconductive belt 10, scattering light 97 reflected, while being dispersed, from both the belt 10 and toner particles 95, and light absorbed by the particles 95 (almost black). Since the surface of the belt 10 is covered with the toner particles 95, the intensity of the refracted light 98 reflected on the belt 10 is attenuated to decrease the refraction signal whereas the intensity of the scattering light 97 is increased by color toners being left on the basic material or the belt 10. Since a charge coupled element is used as an image forming element, the inventive meter can measure both the refraction peak and the sufficient scattering luminous flux at a scattering angle very close to the angle of refractive reflection, and can monitor the DMA accurately.
