The battery (13) of a front-engined car (10) is kept in the boot (14). The conductor (21) from battery to engine and starter motor is integral with the chassis (11), being embedded in the floorpan. The floorpan has a hollow tubular section running down it, accommodating the conductor embedded in polyurethane foam. On the firewall, the conductor has an insulating collar and is connected there to the starter motor and other electrical devices.
