摘要 Prodn. of a strong electrolytic current in the electrode areas of an electrolysis comprise feeding and discharging electrolyte having a current cross-section which is equal or greater in magnitude then the sum of the current cross-sections of the electrode areas. ADVANTAGE - The process allows maintenance of a consistent current cross-section over the whole electrolyte system. Redns. in current are removed from the process, and thus disadvantages caused by these redns. will not occur. PREFERRED COMPONENTS - The electrolyte is forced in a rotation-symmetric direction way by rotation of a propeller. Where the electrolysis cell has a separator and different anolyte and catholyte, the electrolytes are passed to and from the electrode area in channels which are perpendicular to one another. EXAMPLE - In the cell shown, which has a graphite anode and a cathode of Raney Nickel/Nickel sepd. by an asbestos separator, was treated with an anolyte (contg. glueose 200g/L, CaCO3 100 g/l and NaBr 50g/l) and a catholyte (contg. glueose 200 g/l, Na2SO4 150g/l and a pH of 7.5), with an electrolysis current of 400 A/m2. The temp has held at 40 deg.C. There has no gas evolution observed at either the cathode or the anode. Current yield of calcuim glueonate (at anode) and sorbitol (at cathode) has 90%.
