<p>PURPOSE: To provide a proportioning valve for restraining fluid pressure supplied to a disc brake, and integrally assembly the proportioning valve with a caliper before installing it to an automobile. CONSTITUTION: This disc brake 10 comprises a rotor 12 and inner and outer brake pads 14, 16 disposed on opposite sides of the rotor 12 and movable into brake engagement therewith. In addition, the disc brake 10 has a caliper 18 comprising a piston 26 for urging one of the brake pads 14, 16 against the rotor 12, a caliper housing 28 having a cylinder 32 positioned on one side of the rotor 12 within which the piston 26 is slidably movable under the action of fluid pressure in the cylinder, and a fluid line 34 for supplying fluid to the cylinder for movement of the piston 26. The disc brake 10 is also provided with a proportioning valve 44 for the fluid line 34 installed integral with the caliper 18 for preventing fluid pressure above a predetermined level acting on the piston.</p> |
