A die casting process, in particular, for producing light alloy internal combustion engine components, whereby a metal alloy in pigs, possibly containing ceramic particles, is melted and cast in semiliquid form into ingots (8), by feeding it, as it solidifies and under laminar flow conditions, through a static mixer (3). The ingots are then divided, e.g. cut, into smaller ingots (12), each of the same weight as the component for casting, which are heated to paste form in a furnace at a temperature within the solidification range of the alloy, and then fed one at a time into the injection chamber (20) of a die casting machine by which the semiliquid alloy of which the ingot is formed is injected into a mold (22).

|
