Oils and/or emulsions contg. oil, are disposed of by adding polystyrene foam so that they then be removed readily. Oil/emulsions form lumps when mixed with the polystyrene foam and these can be easily removed. E.g. at sea, the combined material can be moved together or picked up at the river bank and carried away. Foam used is pref. particulate and are scattered over the oil etc. ADVANTAGE - Used to dispose of e.g. motor oil/emulsions, oil from tankers or other ships which has formed an emulsion when discharged at sea.
