PURPOSE: To display a three-dimensional image of a body by fitting a position determining means on a scan head provided with a means for sweeping the face of the body with ultrasonic wave and providing an acceleration meter means for detecting movement of this scan head and a signal processing means for processing this acceleration signal. CONSTITUTION: A linear array scan head 10 transmits a pulse of ultrasonic energy and receives an echo returned from a body to be imaged. The returned echo is converted to an electric signal by means of a converting array in the scan head 10 and the electric signal is inputted into a beam forming circuit for forming a coherent vector of an ultrasonic image information. The vector information is inputted into a scan changing circuit memory 14 for forming an array of a two-dimensional image displayed on a display 40. A body is scanned and a real time image is displayed on a display 40 and after it is stored in an image memory 20 by pushing down a storing button 22, it is stored into a imaging loop storing device 30 and a three-dimensional image is obtd. by continuous reproduction.
