PURPOSE:To provide a foaming agent for the production of foam rubbers which is safe for the living organism, foams at low temperature, and does not adversely affect the physical properties of products to be obtained. CONSTITUTION:A foaming agent for use in the production of foam rubbers which is in the form of a water-containing gel and obtained by allowing 1 pt.wt. highly water-absorbent resin R, e.g., a crosslinked isobutylene-maleic anhydride copolymer, to absorb 5-50 pts.wt. water 2. When a foam rubber is produced using this foaming agent, the decomposition generated during foaming is water vapor, which is harmless to the living organism. Hence, no ventilating apparatus is necessary. |
