The catheter comprises a passage enclosed by a casing and with an opening in the forward end enclosed by the annular casing and face. The passage diameter is at least 0.7 times the external diameter, the opening being of the same cross-section. Round the opening ultrasonic converters are distributed. The lines perpendicular to the free radiating surfaces of the latter have a component in the direciton of that perpendicular to that of the catheter end face. The casing contains power-supply wiring. The converter faces can include with the plane of the catheter end face and angle other than 0 deg. USE/ADVANTAGE - Effectively destroys calculi and blood vessel deposits and allows extraction of large fragments.
