A scraper bar type of conveyor has the scraper bars (6) bolted to swinging arms (4). Each arm is welded to a horizontally mounted shaft (1) which is oscillated by means of a lever (18). The lever has a boss (12) with a central bore which is a loose fit on the shaft (1). The motion of the lever is transmitted to the arm by a leaf spring (10). One end of the leaf spring is secured by bolts (21,22) to the lever boss whilst the free end (9) of the leaf spring abuts the clamping plate (8) which secures the scraper bar to the arm. ADVANTAGE - The leaf spring prevents damage to the driving mechanism if the movement of the scraper bar is blocked.
