Compsns. (I) comprise (A) 99-60% (all pts.wt.) mixt. of (A1) aromatic polymer and (A2) mineral or anthracene oil low in aromatics, where ratio (A1):(A2) = 5-50:95-50; (B) 1-40% carbon black. (B) pref. comprises 3-15% (I). (I) also contain fillers, stabilisers, adhesion promoters, siccatives or plasticisers. USE/ADVANTAGE - For protection against corrosion, as casting, filling, or repair compsns., and modifiers for hardenable polymer systems (e.g., epoxide resin, polyurethane, phenolic resin, or polyester systems) (all claimed). (I) resist weathering as do pitch-oil mixts., but have lower content of polyaromatic nuclei cpds. likely to be carcinogenic, addn. of (B) gives protection against light without imparing technical properties.
