PURPOSE: To provide a normally-closed switch to be opened when force is applied to the entire length of a strip by a methode wherein electrical conducting contacts provided in a superposed energization arrangement in an ordinary state are separated in response to additional pressure to shut off energization. CONSTITUTION: With an insulator 23 in conductors 20, 21 and 22 for connections to an electrical switch or a controller, a normally closed switch 10 consists of a large number of partially superposed contact elements 30. The element 30 is composed of a main body portion 31 and a tongue portion 32, which is arranged in superposed relation with the main body portion 31 of the adjacent contact element 30 in an ordinary state. The element 30 made of highly conductive material has a sufficient elasticity to be deformed by pressure, and the tongue portion 32 is separated from the main body portion 31 in response to additional pressure. The normally closed switch 10 includes an extra conducting strip 50 connected to an external controller through the conductor 22. The strip 50 is disposed toward an outer edge of the switch 10 at a given distance from the element 30. When a force is applied over the entire length of the strip 50, the energization of wires 21 and 22 can be shut off. |
