PURPOSE:To drive an existing motor-driven type air conditioner by an engine generator having a small capacity as one of protection against insufficient supply of commercial power in summer. CONSTITUTION:A start switch 12 is closed, an engine 6 is started, and a drive motor 2 of a compressor 4 of a motor-driven air conditioner 1 is started by power supply from a commercial power source E1. Then, when the motor 2 and the engine 6 reach a steady operating state from a starting state, a power source switching unit 9 is switched from the power source E1 to a generating power source E2 of an engine generator 5 through power source switching command means 14 by steady operation sense signal F.G from a detector 3.7. Thus, the generator 5 does not need large electromotive force when the motor 2 of the conditioner 1 is started, but may satisfy a low output for consuming lower power at the time of steady operation of the motor 2. |
