PURPOSE:To form a uniform image with a high resolution even on an electrostatic latent image holding body having a curvature by a method wherein a counter electrode surrounding open parts is provided on the side opposed to ax electrostatic latent image holding body, the counter electrode is divided into parts in a row direction, and a voltage applying means for independently applying a voltage to the parts is provided. CONSTITUTION:A dielectric drum 2 is shaped into a cylinder of 15mm diameter. A distance between the first row of open parts 32 and the fourth row is determined to be 5.16mm. Thus, a gap between a counter electrode and the dielectric drum 2 becomes large by 0.2mm from the center to the both end parts. Then, voltages of 120V, 100V, and 120V are respectively applied to the counter electrodes 34a, 34b, and 34c so that the magnitude of an electric field between the counter electrode and the dielectric drum 2 can be kept parts 32 is never positionally affected but restricted by the electric field of approximately the same magnitude. Therefore, a uniform electrostatic latent image can be formed even on the dielectric drum 2. |
