The bed bottom frame comprises two transversely spaced lengthways stringers covered by a layer of flexible cross slats via interposed spring or foam stringers. Each lengthways stringer (2, 4) should have an open top lengthways groove (6, 6') closed off by a spring stringer elements (8, 8'). The groove can pref. vary in width and divides the respective stringer (2, 4) into two parts of which one moves over to control the groove width relative the other fixed part. USE/ADVANTAGE - Adjustable stringer groove width controls bed hardness to suit user, in situ.
