摘要 PURPOSE:To hold the electric conversion characteristic for a long period by molding a working electrode for a coulometer type electrolytic cell with porous glassy carbon having the specific surface area, average pore diameter, and the size of the crystal piece with specific values in the a-axis direction determined by the X-ray diffraction analyzing method. CONSTITUTION:The average pore diameter of fine holes on the surface of glassy carbon to be used is set to 1-100mum, and clogging occurs in the case below it. The porosity is set to 30-80%, and the contact between a liquid and the inner surface becomes insufficient outside this range. The specific surface area is set to 0.1m<2>/g or above, and no sufficient electric conversion characteristic is obtained below it. The bending streugth is set to 50kgf/cm<2> and the bending elastic modulus is set to 100kgf/mm<2> or above, and the carbon is easily broken below them. The size of the crystal piece inthe a-axis direction determined by the Bragg's equation about X-ray diffraction is set to 40Angstrom or below, and the mechanical strength is reduced if the size exceeds it. These material features are provided, thus excellent electric conversion characteristic can be held for a long period.
