PURPOSE:To obtain a raw material having excellent storability and nutrient value, etc. and suitable for the cultivation of edible fungi, etc., by using bean curd refuse or a mixture of bean curd refuse and sawdust, etc., sterilizing the material with a twin-screw extruder, and at the same time, imparting the material with porous granular structure. CONSTITUTION:Bean curd refuse produced as a by-product of bean curd or a mixture of bean curd refuse and sawdust, rice bran, or other additive, is supplied to a twin-screw extruder, and processed at about 150 deg.C to effect the sterilization and at the same time to impart porous granular structure to the material. Since bean curd refuse is rich in high-quality proteins, fats, carbohydrates, etc., the obtained material can be used as a material for the cultivation of edible fungi such as Pleurotus ostreatus, Flammulina velutipes, Pholiota nameko, Lyophyllum aggregatum, etc., or as a raw material for the production of bean curd refuse tempeh. |
