The corrosion of motor vehicles is prevented or reduced by directing an intensive air flow in all cavities which are endangered by rust. The air stream is induced by the cooling fan of the radiator and/or by the head wind. Special air flow guide elements are provided to confine the flow to the intended path. An elastomer is recommended for lining the mudguards and the chassis. The main air flow circuits (4,14) are indicated by arrows. The air is directed by deflectors (1) in the mudguards (2) and by rust-resistant guard plates (3) which suit the shape of the chassis. Air which has entered in front (5) leaves, laden with moisture and impurities, at the rear (6). Channels (14) lead to openings (15) for the sills (16), the doorposts (13) and the doors (17). This air flow is assisted by the fan (19). Water sprays are deflected by flaps (24). The linings (1,3) are best made of an elastomer which is self-cleaning by its repellent action.
|
