PURPOSE: To provide a piston in which a piston ring groove reinforcing member for reducing mutual abrasion between a piston ring and a piston ring groove is extremely certainly bonded with a piston body material into which the reinforcing member is integrally casted, and its manufacturing method. CONSTITUTION: The piston is manufactured in processes that a porous adhesion assisting layer 24 made of micro particle material is coated over inward portion 18 of an annular piston ring groove reinforcing member 12 which has upper and lower, generally radially extending face portions 14, 16 of the piston and a radially inner, generally piston-axially extending face portion 18 between the two face portions, a piston body alloy is casted around the reinforcing member 12 which is preheated and placed in a piston casting mold, and it is solved in the porous adhesion assisting layer 24. |
