PURPOSE:To obtian a new fluoran compound useful as a color coupler for recording materials, providing stability of colored picture image. CONSTITUTION:A compund shown by formula I [Ra and Rb are 1-8C alkyl, 3-8C alkoxyalkyl, etc., Ra and Rb may be bonded to form a 5-membered ring or a 6-membered hetero ring; Rc is H or methyl; Rd is 1-12C alkyl; R4 is 1-4C alkyl or (substituted)phenyl] such as 2-(4-acetyl-N-methylanilino)-6- diethylaminofluoran. The compound shown by formula I is obtained by reacting a benzophenone compound shown by formula II with a diphenylamine compound shown by formula III (R is H or lower alkyl) in the presence of a condensation agent such as concn. sulfuric acid, treating the formed reactional product with an aqueous solution of an alkali such as sodium hydroxyde and purifying with a solvent such as toluene. |
