PURPOSE:To obtain a composition containing titanium oxide-cerium oxide complex sol, specific vinyl polymer and specific silicon compound and capable of providing excellent scratch resistance, chemical resistance and dyeability, etc., to a base material such as plastic lens having high refractive index. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition consisting essentially of (A) titanium oxide-cerium oxide complex type sol having 0.1-4.0 weight ratio of cerium oxide to titanium oxide and 1-10mum average particle diameter, (B) vinyl polymer expressed by the formula (R<1> and R<2> are H, 1-10C alkyl, aryl or aralkyl; X IS halogen, alkoxy, acyloxy, aminoxy, phenoxy, thioalkoxy or amino; a is 0, 1 or 2) and having silyl group and 1000-20000 average molecular weight and (C) silicon compound expressed by the formula Si(OR<3>)4 and/or the formula H3C Si(OR<4>)3 (R<3> and R<4> are 1-5C hydrocarbon, alkoxyalkyl or 1-4C acyl). The composition provides a film having no refractive index by setting refractive index to arbitrary value. |
