In a machine for cutting off blanks from a paper ribbon 7 continuously fed over a drum 1, provided with pivotally-mounted knives 8, each knife is pivoted to a counter knife 9 secured to the drum and is pivotally connected to a slide 15 provided with a pin 16 engaging a cam groove 17 in a stationary disc 18. In order that the knives 8 may cut the paper ribbon completely, the drum surface is provided with grooves 19, Fig. 5, each having disposed therein a filler member 20 which is retracted into the groove during the final portion of the knife movement by means of a reciprocating rod 23 which is connected to the filler member by means of pivot members 24, Fig. 6, having a connecting spring 28. The rod 23 is reciprocated by means of a roller 26 at one end thereof co-operating with a stationary cam 27, and passes through openings 25 in members 29, 30 secured to the sides of the drum. The severed blank is pushed off the drum by means of a cam-operated pin supported in the drum wall.</p> |
