Device for detecting excess speed of a driver identified in the vehicle which he is driving, a part of which corresponds to the driven vehicle, the other part identifying the driver and the speed excesses which he has committed. It consists of a box (I) linked to the module of the vehicle by a multi-pin connector with a digital code on the top and tell-tale lights on the face, as well as an audible buzzer. On the upper face, a protected digital code allows the authorities to reset the offences counter to zero. This box counts up the passage of an ILS beyond the allowed speed limit. An indicator lamp displays the "TOWN" position, which can be lit by a switch. The device has an electronic function which makes it possible to record the infractions in unauthorised crossing of the traffic light when it is at red. <IMAGE>
